The mercury's a risin', and those of us "deep in the heart" know the only ways to survive Texas summers are to be in the A/C or to be in the pool!
Add kids to the mix, and the pool is definitely the hot spot to keep cool. But, the pool - or any body of water - can also be a real danger, too. Last year at Children's, physicians treated 36 children for drowning or near drowning incidents.
Are your kids safe in the water?
For years, the injury prevention department at Children's Medical Center has joined forces with the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, the Dallas Area Red Cross and Safe Kids Worldwide to share the Know Before You Go drowning prevention program with North Texans and their families.
Their key messages? Ready. Set. Save. Find out how these few simple tips can keep your water babies safe this summer season.
If you'd like to print out your own Water Watcher tag (which designates you as the official chaperone and lifeguard for a given time) or to schedule a community presentation on water safety, visit the Know Before You Go web site.
We're looking at triple digits by the end of the week, so get yourself ready for some fun (and safety!) in the sun and in the splash.
