Calming a mother's worst fear

Geri Ann Mears had no idea how badly her 2-year-old daughter, Karlee, was hurt after she was kicked in the face by a horse in October, 2009. All of the worst possibilities went through her mind. She wanted answers as quickly as possible so her daughter could be treated as quickly as possible. Mainly, she wanted to know her daughter was going to be okay. That's why she wanted Karlee to come to Children's.

"I'd never been to Children's, but everybody I know, if something major happened to their child, they would take them to Children's," Geri Ann said.
